How to deliver an elevator pitch to Trinny Woodall

Sooooo I got to speak to Trinny Woodall owner of Trinny London about Quillattire in the form of an elevator pitch, I had 30 seconds to preach about the brand and what it stood for. For those who do not know, my names Priya Jangda the owner of Quillattire, i do not really show myself but here it goes :)

Can I just say I love Trinny Woodall she is such an inspirational woman and oozes confidence in everything she does with her quirky and humorous ways. I used to watch her all the time on ‘What not to wear’, so this was a massive deal for me, to be speaking to a woman who has built her career as a TV celebrity and now has her own successful makeup line called Trinny London (Major goals!).

The behind the scenes were not as glamorous as it appears, I was sweating heaps from nervousness & fear of screwing up! The plant is there to hide the storm of paper patterns, fabrics, and order sheets. I am also perched up next to the window sill, clever camera positioning by me.

I had 30 seconds to deliver my elevator pitch —> talk sustainable fashion and what the story of Quillattire is and how I got into this all. Can I just add 30 seconds to deliver an elevator pitch is tough! There is so much to talk to about, and so much clock-watching & minor breakdowns when you forget everything! I was super nervous as I never show my face against my brand, not sure if that’s linked to confidence but I did it! I did have to watch Oprah Winfrey do a motivational speech on Youtube before this so I was full of positive vibes and feeling that I could run the world…Girls!

We spoke about how my love for designing for high street brands had faded away due to their constant churning of clothes and no thought process into the impact it was causing our world. I spoke about how I sell sweats & hoodies that are made from biodegradable organic bamboo, dresses, and jackets that are made in small runs and from end of line fabrics, masks that are ethically made by myself using fabrics that are end of line and using techniques such as hand painting.

Top tips for presenting an elevator pitch in 30 seconds to a celebrity on zoom/ in person are below:

  • BE YOURSELF! The best quality you have is you, you are unique so vibe of the energy and be natural.

  • Don’t have too much written out in front of you, just simple bullet points. I had so much in front of me that I lost my thoughts at times. Amongst the mess in front of me were hurds of fabrics and papers as I was in the middle of making orders for you guys.

  • Have a clear area around you, so you do not get distracted and have a fresh mind. Push away everything that is troubling you and be PRESENT IN THE MOMENT, its your time to shine :)

  • BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, the person you are speaking to is human too. They are putting time aside to speak to you, so embrace who you are, what your brand stands for, and do you.

  • Talk about your story, grab them emotionally so they are paying attention ;)

  • Speak about how your brand evolved and name drop companies you have worked for or helped promote your brand, for an extra grip on their attention to you.

  • Finish with what you want them to take away, I wanted my product to be seen and speak about how my brand was sustainable and we should all try help our world by working together and make wiser decisions and shop sustainable (Quillattire)

  • You got this ;)

Please have a play of the full video below, let me know what you think of my elevator pitch and please share :) I have mentioned the pieces featured in the chat below the interview :).

How to clean and care for your mask?

Hi Guys, I hope you are all well :)

Sorry, i have not been live on my blog for a while I have been super busy making my sustainable face masks for a boutique called Windfall Natural in Chiswick & Clapham. They are a lovely health food and sustainable accessories shop that stock amazing organic health produce and product that is great for us and the environment. Its been a whirlwind couple of months with my our masks selling out in 2 days of being stocked in both shops, and having back to back restocks that I am single-handedly making. I suppose now is the time to source an ethical supplier to work with - eek! Suggestions welcome :)

I have been creating some really exciting bits for Chiswick and Clapham Windfall Natural, the sequin, and hand-painted face masks have worked a treat! Also the printed face masks I have been creating, I use end of line fabrics that are from the end of factory production runs and have no more use or organic cottons that are biodegradable and great for the environment. Everything stocked in the boutiques is also available to purchase on our website :)

This is how we package each face mask to make them look a little fun rather than daunting!

Below a super trendy white leopard print with pretty summer flowers face mask, one of my faves. The lining is a baby pink cotton and the mask has adjustable earloops and a nose bridge to mold to your face. The face mask fits under the chin :)

FACE MASK HYGIENE

Have you noticed how dirty and creased your face mask can get in your bag or pocket on your way back from the shops? Well here’s a solution for you - a his and hers face mask bag, there are more options in our shop, click here. They do not cost a lot so it’s a good investment to protect your mask from getting destroyed or dirty and just to keep it in one place rather than forgetting it at home or dropping it on the floor by accident. I will be introducing a little keyring holder too to clip onto your keyring so you will never forget your face mask again! So stay tuned! I have been using these bags in my handbag as I found my mask was getting dirty and creased when put back into my handbag when leaving shops etc.

Our Gingham Mask Bags with matching Mask are a lovely Gift or Christmas stocking filler. Check out our sets here, you have a red gingham set, a mint as below, and a blue!

Our super stylish Trio of pouches

Our super stylish Trio of pouches

Our trio of three cotton gingham pouches above in blue, mint green, and red! Initially, we had made these to protect your face masks but you can use them for all sorts. Think makeup bag, pencil case, glasses bag, money anything really but remember whatever it is will be stored in style :)

Bags are 10cm x 16cm so a good size. All bags are washable and reusable.

My top tips for keeping your face masks in check are wash them regularly. You sweat during the day and whilst wearing your mask, especially if you are wearing makeup - omg it’s such a struggle now with lipstick! I personally have multi sets of face masks so I can rotate them during the week, I mean they are like wearing a top and bottom now - Essential!…

We have many desk to dinner face mask set options for you for men and women. All our face masks are washable at 40/60 degrees and can be hand washed too!

Protecting your face mask from other germs is important too, don’t just chuck it away at the back of the car or drop it into your shopping, keep it protected. We have given you cool pouch options to keep them protected and they are not too expensive :)

Please stay tuned to our blog, as i have some exciting bits dropping soon :)
